Write a Poem for Your Pet

April is poetry month!
MEET ME AT THE CORNER, Virtual Field Trips for Kids, (www.meetmeatthecorner.org) wants to celebrate with poems for our four-legged friends. Do you have a cat, dog, mouse, hamster, gerbil or any other type of pet that you feel poetic about?
Then put your thoughts and feelings into a poem and submit with a photo of your pet. If you are the winner, your poem and pet’s photo will be highlighted in a MEET ME AT THE CORNER video pod cast during April 2008. See rules and regulations for prizes and details.
RULES & REGULATIONS
- The poetry contest is open to children 7-12.
- Each poem must be an original work. (Only one poem per child, please.)
- Your poem may be of any length, and in any style about your pet.
- Each poem must be titled and submitted with a photo of your pet. Poems may be submitted in one of two categories: ages 7-9 or ages 10-12.
- Each poem entered must be submitted on a separate sheet of 8½" x 11" paper. Typed entries are preferred.
- On the back of the poem, include contestant's full name, address, phone number, email, age and category.
- Poems will not be returned and become the property of MEET ME AT THE CORNER, Virtual Field Trips for Kids.

PRIZES:
One grand-prize winner in each category will receive a prize a cash prize of $50. Two runners-up in each category will receive a $25 gift certificate to a bookstore of their choice.
Entries will be judged for theme, originality, creativity, and artistic quality. Winning poems and runners-up in each category will be highlighted in a video pod cast for MEET ME AT THE CORNER, Virtual Field Trips for Kids during Poetry Month, April 2008.
