  4. When is the best time to collect honey? What conditions are necessary for a good crop of honey?
  5. What is best to wear when you’re collecting honey? Why?
  6. Why do beekeepers use smoke to before they gather honey?
  7. Define “lethargic”. Why do you think it’s a good idea to have lethargic bees?

    1. Do some extra research on honeybees or how honey is made and report your findings back to the class.
    2. Bring in a recipe for a food made with honey, and bring a food sample in to share with the class. (Teacher: You can make a class honey recipe book for students!)
    3. Did you know that there is a very serious problem with honeybees dying in the United States? There are many web sites dealing with this issue. Research and write down some of the causes that scientists think might be causing this problem. Why are honeybees so very important to human life? What could happen if too many honeybees disappear?
