On July 1st 1874, the first zoo was opened in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Three thousand visitors traveled by foot, horse and carriage and steamboat to visit the exhibits. Today with a click of the mouse you can take a virtual field trip to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
